First Senses questions : answered
Q. Can I take my own photos/videos?
A. Please use your camera with caution; respect that other parents/carers may not want their child in the picture, and please make sure it’s put away somewhere safe after use.
Q. I want to see what First Senses is all about – can I come and see?
A. Of course, if you’d like to drop in to take a quick look, please phone ahead so we know to expect you, there is no charge for coming to take a peek but if you want to stay and play there is a charge.
Messy Play questions : answered
Q. I would like to bring my 2 year old but have a newborn baby too – can I bring her along?
A. Babies in arms are free and more than welcome. When they sit unaided there is nothing stopping them from getting fully involved in the messy play areas, and as soon as they are able to take part there is only a small charge for siblings.
Q. I’ve paid in advance, do I get a refund if we miss a event?
A. Due to hiring charges and costs of materials, I’m afraid we can’t offer a refund. Refunds will be issued if sessions are canceled by First Senses due to unforeseen circumstances (unfortunately this does not include adverse weather conditions that prevent members from traveling to the sessions) and make up sessions are not possible.
Q. My child has never really enjoyed messy play at home, how can First Senses help?
A. As part of a group, it is naturally a more social experience which leaves more cautious children more willing to explore. It is perfectly normal for some to be a little unsure of certain textures, but with encouragement and involvement from their parents/carers, this is enough to fill them with confidence and get fully involved. Messy play can be split into 3 stages (dry, soft and wet), each of which are represented each session and explored at the child’s own pace – instilling confidence to explore the next stages.
Q. What are the maximum sizes of groups?
A. First Senses sessions can accommodate up to 40 children comfortably depending on the size of the venue which is being used. Our class sizes do vary from venue to venue and to ensure health and safety of our members, Your child remains your responsibility whilst at First Senses classes.
Q. What should we wear?
A. It is advisable that both you and your child wear clothes that you won’t mind getting messy. Please bring a change of clothes for your child to go home warm and dry. Please bring a towel to dry off with and a plastic bag to take wet clothes home in.

Do you have insurance?
Yes, we have $20,000, 000 in public liability insurance. A copy of our certificate of currency is available on request.
Does the hirer require insurance?
It is not a requirement, however, we are a big believer of “CYB” - so it would be recommended! Please also consider, that while the equipment is in your possession - you are also responsible for any loss, damage or theft.
Things to consider....
If you are using our equipment at a venue or public open space, then please make sure you have the relevant permission (with the venue owner/council land for example), otherwise insurances become invalid.
We recommend that you set up the equipment on a soft surface; such as lawn or on turf mats if outside. Harder surfaces can cause injuries and damage the equipment.
Please avoid eating & drinking whilst using the equipment to avoid additional cleaning charges.
