The Laila Milly Foundation

I’ve just finished delivering a 5 week massage course at the Laila Milly Foundation and I cannot express the honour it has been working alongside the foundation and their families. Maya and Amanda work so hard and it means so much to have been apart of their day centre.

The Laila Milly Foundation was established by Steve and Maya after sadly loosing their daughter Laila who was born with a rare neurological condition. They offer families care and support in a safe and secure environment at a time when they need it. The centre was established to support families with children with complex health or life limiting conditions up to the age of 5 years.

During the 5 weeks I have met so many incredible families with their children. They were able to enjoy their massage which for many supports their health needs but induce some form of relaxation.

I look forward to working alongside the team again in the future and can’t wait to meet the families again.

Love my job

Just thought I’d write this post just to express the enjoyment and pleasure I get from helping those families in need. During my day job I work with supporting vulnerable families and children. Today I had the pleasure of teaching baby massage to a family with newborn twins. It’s just so nice to see how babies really do respond in different ways and for the twins they both got to enjoy one on one time with their mum. It was great to see their eye contact, love of their parent and enjoyment in participating in a relaxing massage. The way both babies responded makes my days so worth while. Babies were completely relaxed, able to move more freely and go to sleep feeling completely chilled.

Baby massage can have so many benefits and help families in many ways and should not be mis understood in why we teach this life long skill.

Assistant Regional Representative Role

I was excited to find out that I had been given the new role by the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) UK Chapter as Assistant Regional Representative for the Yorkshire and Humber Region. Being a member of the IAIM for a while and teaching baby massage for over 6 years I felt honoured to be asked to do such a big role. I can’t wait to get started alongside my colleague and begin our plan of action to support and mentor student, new and fully fledged CIMI’s in their role in delivering the gift of baby massage. I have such a love for naturally supporting, helping and mentoring people that I hope I can do this role well. So watch this space……
